The murder of Charlie Kirk is part of a disturbing rise in political violence that threatens to hollow out our public life.

A free society relies on the premise that people can speak out without fear or humiliation.

No more political violence.

I guess this has probably already gone viral somewhere but I am simply dying at this picture of a bear that looks like it hired a photographer to do a glamour shoot

Post pictures of when your pets were little. Well, Sam is still little so it's a current pic:

So smol...so fluffy... wasn't expecting to get another cat after losing Pip in January but the cat distribution system had other plans.

Waiting for the cheesy, buttery, Ritz crackery topping on the squash casserole to brown feels like it's taking forever. Of course, as soon as I walk away it'll get burnt and rurnt. Thems the rules.😂

After having my ortho Dr. appointment postponed 3 separate times due to getting surgical clearances, I finally have my follow up appointment this morning. Then my phone rings at 7:45 am and they're rescheduling for Tuesday. Aaaagh.. fine I'll see you Tuesday at 8 am. So frustrating. Oh well 😒🤨

I would watch Fox news to see if they're covering the financial situation but I'm not sure I could stomach it. I dont even want to watch any network news. Ugh, just the thought of it gives me driving in Atlanta traffic levels of anxiety.

New — A viral story about the Dropkick Murphys getting banned from X was reported by multiple reputable news outlets. But as @jsweetli.bsky.social learned through simple reporting, the story was totally false.

For The Handbasket she explains her work, and exposes major holes in current journalism:
How a false story about an anti-Trump band went viral
News outlets reported the Dropkick Murphys were banned from X by Elon Musk. As Jacqueline Sweet easily found, it wasn’t true.

I saw my first ant in the kitchen of the year. Seems like he's a bit early this year. Time to prep for ant season I suppose.

I had to tell a nurse what new meds my ortho doctor had prescribed for me and that started a discussion on pain medicine prescribing practice by doctors that turned into a rant by her on doctors refusing to treat pain. I listened and nodded along. Nurses must hear a lot of complaints!

Rather than a dearth of pushback against Trump's fascism, as many overly focused on the State of the Union complained, there was instead a flood of it this week. You just had to know where to look.

I can see why the GOP cancelled town hall meetings. I wouldn't want to address an angry crowd of veterans after this nonsense either.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote.

There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP

Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.
@aoc.bsky.social
Please explain what just happened. Is there no way to stop this w the reconciliation to be used by GOP to get around the filibuster? Are we sunk?

Cosmic crisp apples are my new favorite. Also, they avoid turning brown after being cut up longer than any other apple I've cut up. Definitely a bonus feature.

I watched the movie Flow(2024) on Max last night. It was beautiful, unique, and made me feel better after seeing it. Definitely not a typical animal film. No human voices or language. Just animal sounds. Spectacular film.

Sometimes when you have a broken arm, there's no comfortable way to lie down. The recliner definitely helps though.😧😖😵😒

Between my beloved cat, Pip, getting killed on my birthday and me breaking my arm on Valentine's Day, I'm honestly dreading what St. Patrick's Day has in store for me. 2025 is kicking my ass for sure.

When the nurse looked at the xray of my broken humerus, she said "that's probably gonna need surgery but they'll tell you for sure at your ortho appointment." At least I likely know what I'm looking at.😳

A benefit of Urgent Care is I dont pay up front. They took several xrays of my broken arm and ribs, called in pain meds and i walked out having paid zero dollars. Also, my wait was 5 minutes instead of hours at the ER. Nicely done Atrium Health.
