People in my "progressive" neighborhood NIMBY'd a *senior affordable housing development* into reducing its units from 71 to 41. Just an absolute moral travesty. (Rogerson/Beaufort project in JP)

This is a moral crime of the first order. If there's a hell, Elon Musk would burn in it
The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

Its almost like.. defunding Septa has cascading effects beyond just SEPA... who would've thought
U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle said Amtrak president Robert Harris told him last week the railroad could lose $71.1 million in annual payments from SEPTA because of a delay in state operating funds for the transit agency.

If that happens, the Keystone Service line will “cease to exist,” Boyle said.
Amtrak’s Keystone line, connecting NYC, Philly, and Harrisburg, may get axed under SEPTA cuts

More high density neighborhoods!! (Finally fixed the legend title.)

In Philly and Boston, we've got massive and continuous density in the city proper and adjacent cities. (Upper Darby ❤️)

But with a few exceptions (Lynn, MA and Norristown, PA), outlying urban centers don't pack much of a punch.

Mayor Wu should ask the same of Josh Kraft
I asked Andrew Cuomo a simple question: will he publicly ask his Super PAC to return the millions of dollars it's received from Trump-backing billionaires?

And will his own campaign reject the hundreds of thousands of dollars from MAGA Republicans?

He wouldn't answer.

A leading candidate for New York City mayor wants free local bus fares. But studies have repeatedly shown that any money you spent on that would be more productively spent on better service. 1/

Zohran Mamdani wants to make NYC buses free as mayor. How would that work?
In a race that is shaping up to be about who can make New York City most affordable, free buses are an appealing – if expensive – proposal.

A YIMBY Theory of Power
Pro-housing advocates offer an analysis of class relations that is more sophisticated and has more explanatory power than the one held by many critics of the “abundance agenda.”

Boston when
It is estimated that speed cameras on Roosevelt Blvd in Philly have saved 50 lives since 2020. That's how great the improvement in safety has been. But speed cameras are still illegal in New Jersey, which has one of the worst rates of pedestrian fatalities in the nation.
This point doesn't get emphasized enough. Just a few years ago Roosevelt Blvd was a top-5 deadliest road in the country. Now it isn't even the deadliest in Philly

The Eagles have 6 offensive starters under contract through the 2028 season, with Cam Jurgens likely joining that group this offseason.

Only 32 contributions from Boston residents at any dollar amount.

To date, Kraft's campaign is roughly 75% funded from outside of Boston.

And with only 7 contributions of $100 or less from Bostonians, the story really tells itself.
Since 1/1/2025, Josh Kraft received 103 contributions (total $71,211.53).

Only 16 contributions were $100 or less.

He received only 7 contributions of $100 or less from Boston residents (total $604). Out of over $70,000 in contributions. Who is funding this campaign?

This policy is literally just DEI for rich white suburbs
The US DOT says it's planning to prioritize areas with high marriage & high birth rates for funding.

Our new analysis @urbaninstitute.bsky.social shows this would disproportionately fund:
—Communities with a higher white resident share
—Low-density areas
—High-income areas
—Car-dependent areas
DOT’s Plan to Distribute Funding by Birth and Marriage Rates Would Leave Communities Most In Need Behind
If enacted, the new US Department of Transportation memo would prioritize funding to whiter, higher-income, more car-dependent areas over communities of color and people who walk, bike, or take public...
