Does anyone know of something similar but more up-to-date? -- I mean a chapter-length introduction to Latin and the various things one might read in that language

I was recently rereading it, though, and it felt hoplessly out of date in its assumptions and I'm not sure the puffy old prose will thrill my students as it did my younger self.
