Semi-serious response: Looking at when and why the personal pronoun was dropped in social media posts. As in: "delighted to announce" rather than "I'm delighted to announce". I don't think it's just a character limit thing, think it's also about footing/distancing, but I'm not sure...

Yep, and as expectations, buzz-words and zietgeisty concepts from funders change, you can be pulled down roads that a) don't interest you and, worse b) are not a specialist in.

Looking back at both books, what's clear is that Labour today has nothing new to say about immigration. The shadow of Blair's 'third way' has hollowed out the party of any strongly held set of ideals, and on immigration in particular they are reactive to media narratives of confected crises
