I was wondering why the “in session” light atop the dome was on at 6am as I rode my bike to work this morning. Nice job @merkley.senate.gov !

I’m not gonna call this a pet project, but I am definitely aggressively promoting this project!
Missed @hillfamilybiking.org at Open Streets on Saturday? We launched an petition to make 11th St SE by converting existing painted bike lanes into a two-way protected cycle track from Lincoln Park -> The Anacostia River.

Yesterday’s PM queue at Inman Square. This bike traffic is out of control, when are they gonna tear out those pointless car lanes?!?

Evening rush-hour traffic. 🚲 🚲 🚲 🚦

Though I always prefer the empty bike lanes over car gridlock, it makes me happy when there are so many people on bikes. Great to see the infrastructure in use & strength in numbers makes us all safer. Happy to put up with some of this kind of traffic.

Very well-said by my friend @mark-sussman.bsky.social on behalf of our @hillfamilybiking.org crew.

Also lots highlighting some of our great bike infrastructure.

Yet there remains much work to be done.

A patient gave me this very sweet home-made thank you card this week. I have no idea where they got their design inspiration. Do you?

In November, @hillfamilybiking.org hosted their 1st Littles Ride - a 1-mile on-street bike ride tailored to 3-6 year olds. 200 people showed up.

Saturday is our 2nd Littles Ride. 200 peope are already signed up.

Parents are starved for safe streets so kids can be kids.

Months of planning with my program Co-Chair Deana Mercer culminated yesterday in a super-successful Hand Specialty Day where hundreds of attendees hopefully learned a thing or two from 5 hours of talks by more than 50 faculty! Thanks to ASSH and AAHS for helping us put on a show at #AAOS2025 !

The best time to replace my brake pads would have been a while ago. Second best was today!

Thanks to @thedailyrider.bsky.social for the fresh supply!

"I have other ligaments, it's like a normal knee. Things can go wrong, but the titanium knee component is indestructible."

Sounds like someone who was given WAY too rosy an outlook by their surgeon. The titanium (+ plastic + cobalt/chrome…) are strong, but can also get ripped out of one’s bones.

The usual prime sledding down the Capitol Building’s hill is off limits to kids during today’s snow due to anti-shenanigan measures for January 6th. But the Capitol Hill *neighborhood* still finds a way!
We’ve got a double sled course built on Stuart Hobson fields for anyone looking for some fun! 🛷 ❄️

Monday we are going to bring out the #sneckdowns in DC…
Each and every fresh snow reveals how much we’ve over-designed our streets and roads for cars, making them faster and more dangerous for everyone, and how much space we could reclaim for people and public life if we thought about street design differently.

We call them #sneckdowns. #sneckdown
