Powerful report on #DV #VAW by journo @georgiaroberts.bsky.social Most reporting on this is lurid, tabloid, sensationalist, with victim-blaming & defence of the perpetrators. The language & tone of Roberts' piece is sombre, thoughtful & respectful. Quality #journalism. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...
The confronting data exposing the patterns behind gendered violence deaths
An analysis of data by the ABC shows 69 women were killed in instances of gendered violence last year in Australia. All but 10 were killed by someone known to them.

Yup, @jamellebouie.net has this exactly right. What these guys are celebrating/pursuing/yearning for is not masculine energy, it's *adolescent* energy. Drinking Red Bull, crushing Call of Duty, refusing to clean your room. It is indescribably pathetic. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/18/o...

I think this is one of my favourite colourful climate chart type things, because it depicts two things at once:

- Things are going to get worse, no matter what

- The degree to which they get worse depends on decisions made today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do;
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too.
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace.
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one.

Kat Tenbarge interviewed me about the migration to Bluesky among journalists.

It's easy to see why it's happening.

It's easier to find news, harder to spread disinfo, trolls don't drown out the good content, and links are not deprioritized.

It's a breath of fresh air for journalism to thrive in.
Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic'
Journalists are finding more readers and less hate on Bluesky than on the platform they used to know as Twitter.
