This whole situation is surreal. We’re having to explain to people whose nominal job is investigative reporting why the world does not disappear when they cover their eyes before working up to the fact that we do not have their actual nose.

My understanding is that SNA is kind of responsible for inventing itself (roughly around the time the neighborhoods became official) and subsuming Hope, but it's intentionally vague so it can spill over Hope's borders.

Contrast that with WBNA which has a clear map of its unofficial self:
Neighborhood - WBNA
Get to know US Going strong since 1983 The WBNA is a Rhode Island non-profit 501c(3) organization that is governed by an all-volunteer, neighborhood-based board of directors with three part-time staff...

Anyhow:
There is no “village” there! There never was. It’s a commercial district that was initially built around gas stations and auto repair! The ex-streetcar housing is on the other side of the hill.

But we need to realize that *genuinely* centering corruption is not a tactic. It’s fucking crusade.

It means running against institutions.

It means putting the mission over partisanship.

It means you have to *use* power to deliver.

It means you have to hold people accountable.

And I think, once Trump in particular showed them they could completely eliminate the possibility their opponents could make them suffer social censure and are able to use it entirely as their own weapon, the right completely gave into its moral licentiousness in its pursuit of domination.

Lefty moral conviction or principled opposition is portrayed as unreasonable litmus tests even by their center-inclined allies (when they’re allies). Everyone else’s moral convictions are portrayed as legitimate, and the most legitimate are the right-wing’s, even when they act in immoral ways!
