For perspective, the federal service has not increased much in absolute numbers since 2000 and is actually down from the mid-1970s. Share of the total workforce has actually decreased steadily. And, basically offset by contractors. So, it's really largely a privatized government already.

Blue states should setup a Dept of Education when Musk close it down. The states need coordination on education and resources. Just recruit a good share of current staff. DC will be helpful to get office space. That will make it easy to resurrect it fully down the road.

American oil production is forecasted to plateau over the next 2 years.

(That’s because producers don’t want to outpace demand, not because they need to be ‘unleashed’.)

Accessing DeepSeek on Venice AI from an iPhone returns uncensored info about Tiananmen. It’s not actually spitting it out but available when folding out “Thinking”. Same prompt on a regular browser gives the censored response.

The first outbreak of a rare bird flu in poultry has been detected on a duck farm in California, the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) said.

The post by Kelsey a bit silly. But the comments to his post are disturbing. Why this sympathy for the totalitarian Chinese regime? Many conversations on Bluesky on this subject turn to into false equivalencies.

US healthcare spending as part of GDP is 20.2%. Other major countries around 11-13 %. The US increase is not due a shrinking GDP, on the contrary - our GDP has grown more than the other countries.

This is insane, Groq is the #4 API on this list! 😮

OpenAI, Anthropic, and Azure are the top 3 LLM API providers on LangChain

Groq is #4, and close behind Azure

Google, Amazon, Mistral, and Hugging Face are the next 4.

Ollama is for local development.

Now add three more 747's worth of LPUs 😁

I don't think this would hold up under fair use - if a person had painted the image on the right, they would almost certainly survive a lawsuit.

This is less air tight than training set recovery where a prompt can get ai to generate streams of copyrighted text.
On the left, my image. On the right, the Al image that was clearly trained on, and designed to plagiarize, my image.

All Al generated imagery is inherently theft. It's unethical, environmentally disastrous, and does irreparable harm to both artists and society.
