I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you.

The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

BREAKING: Plainclothes agents detain and take Mahmoud Khalil from his home. His wife, Noor Abdalla, who is 8 months pregnant, recorded the video.

Agents refused to show a warrant to his wife and hung up on the family’s attorney.

If they can do this to Mr. Khalil, they can do it to any of us.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too.

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

I’m begging all South Dakotans to focus your attention & outrage on pushing back against bad state-level legislation. Our congressional delegation isn’t going to respond to calls about Elon Musk, but your state legislators live in your communities & are more responsive to calls to fund libraries.

Senate Bill 51, which would require the Ten Commandments to be posted in all public school classrooms, is moving through the legislature, but we can still stop it. Contact the House Education Committee now to ask them to oppose this bill.
