My name is Saman and I am a Union Rep for Starbucks Fairway in Kitchener Ontario!

Now to the fourth group, just know that it is the responsibility of both CUPW *and* the Federal Government to agree to a Collective Bargaining agreement mutually. CUPW has the right to strike and now it's the feds turn to hold up their end of the bargain.

I learned about when my local transit strike was going to end through union connections so I genuinely think it can be beneficial for small businesses to build a relationship with CUPW.

And that can mean many things, it probably does mean that you have to factor in another courier into your bottom line. But honest advice for small business owners is to make a connection with CUPW in your region.

To the third group, I feel for your business and I can rationalize why you'd be upset - but I think now is a good time to evaluate two things.
1. The relationship between gov't services and the strength of our economy
2. The role Canada post plays in your operation

To the second group, a lot of the comments are about how these Canada Post workers are "low skill" or "get paid enough anyway" - go do their job then. Go and quit whatever bum ass job you work and be a postal worker for a living and tell me it's low skill and you don't need workers rights

smh

To the first group I gotta say, look at yourself 😒
"I need my amazon, I need my playstation, I need my sephora - because products/services make me feel good abt myself! If I can't get my package off the back of an exploited Canada Post employee, how am I supposed to feel good abt myself?"

1. Gluttonous consumers
2. General anti-union/anti postal worker sentiment
3. Small business owners
4. Canadians who just want the strike to end

In terms of sentiment from Canadians online, I've seen a mostly distasteful reaction from the public. I'd say there are four main types of reactions to these workers going on strike:

Just to be clear, workers do not go on strike for fun. CUPW members are not happy with the leadership of Canada Post as a crown corporation, with their compensation and with their working conditions and they have every right to strike.
