Paper Mario for N64 and Silent Hill 3 are some of the first games I remember having a *real* obsession with. They both tend to be the less-loved sibling to the 2nd games in their series ironically!

I feel more fairness and confidence-building towards new writers would kill some of the ChatGPT temptation.
Lack of drive and confidence, and quantity over quality culture is a lot of it, and believe me, I'd rather see YOUR work, no matter how flawed, than a stolen slurry posing as a book.

It's kind of lost media, but years ago I started a Silent Hill 1 manga. Wasn't great, and only went up to where Harry finds the "dog" body - hours wasted detailing Harry's car, mostly. But the experience did make me wonder why SH has struggled so much with adaptation.

I kind of suspect that A I draws much of its "writing" from book blurbs.
Why? For one, it's public. Harder to get in trouble for taking it. For two, blurbs are stuffed with words and descriptions but often don't say anything.

There really needs to be more vetting in self-publishing, badly.
The amount of slop - AI or not - is just unreal. If only people put the amount of effort they put into trickery into actual art, they'd have something to be proud of.
