Actual person here, and Atlantic subscriber even. I talk politics with my husband all the time and we often reference your articles. We fear the country may slip into fascism, but know we aren’t there yet.

I feel like a lot of people don’t understand that for many small business owners (like myself), ACA is the only way we can get insurance without going broke. I already am an entrepreneur!

When I read "moon truther" I immediately assumed that meant someone who believes in the moon and then I went down a couple rabbit trails on exactly what that meant until I came to the comments to find I couldn't have been more wrong and why is that called a "truther"?

The Democratic Party could learn a lot from Democrats in California. The party is very successful here and it wrangles a lot of disparate issues and groups. The Democratic message is well focused here. Not perfect, but as I said, successful.

People in California are pretty happy about the plastic bag bans…good for the ocean. He can’t possibly say Cal Dems don’t pursue policies that help people in need as well. We can do both.

‘68 divided my parents. They married in ‘66. My dad went to Vietnam and came home a lifelong Democrat and my mom who was at home witnessing the riots became a lifelong Republican.
