Used up the last of my tagging stickers from Monarch Watch today. 100 monarchs tagged this fall and 109 released so far in total. Another 33 chrysalises waiting for their day. All monarchs found around my house and neighborhood as eggs or caterpillars. Such a fun fall project.

We were able to catch a monarch caterpillar emerging from its egg with the microscope this morning.

It’s Monarch season again!
We are raising Monarchs and will begin tagging them upon release starting mid-August.

Current in-house totals:
• 2 eggs
• 78 caterpillars
• 40 chrysalises
• 3 butterflies released (not tagged)
Five visible small, young monarch caterpillars on milkweed leaves kept in plastic takeout containers. 10 large monarch caterpillars on a milkweed plant in a netted cage. 7 monarch chrysalises: 6 are green and gold and one is clear showing the black and orange butterfly inside ready to emerge. Male monarch butterfly on the finger of my son being released. Wing was a bit wonky, but it flew off well enough.

It always brings me back to this post on how accessibility helps everyone, and it is often in unpredictable ways.

I love this book series. When seeing the news it was being made into a show, I never considered that would mean also bringing to life “The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon.” The description sounds amazing.
