Until I got into the audiobook space I had never once been offered royalties in any VO gig. It never even occurred to me that we could collect royalties.

You gotta see how the plates/shock absorbers/sensors are constructed for this to make sense but wood being softer is what makes the whole thing work

Tldr this is a safety risk don't hurt yourself trying to play Taiko at R1 it's not you

What I THINK happened, and I'm aware nobody cares about this the way I do lol, is that whoever Namco contracted to build these in the US chose polycarbonate instead of wood for the plates. Makes sense in theory - polycarbonate is durable, you can 3D print it. Fast & cheap, the USA way lol

*Sorry, the sensors are still from the new builds, the drum plates are from the old builds.

Either way, it's bad. The US Taiko cabinets as they are right now are basically unplayable. They need to go back to the wood plates and whatever drum skin they are using needs to go too.

There are R1 techs out there who are fed up with Namco and decided to test the new Taiko cabinets with older models drum plates/sensors

They work perfectly. It's a bad build.

Er, I should clarify, I worded this weirdly. It's not that it just sets itself to a random threshold every time you boot it up, it's moreso that the settings it SHOULD be on likely aren't saved, so every time the cabinet boots up it's reset and messed up again

I'm seeing videos all over the internet of high level players struggling to clear simple charts, people breaking their maibachi sticks and even hurting themselves trying to play this cabinet.

I considered holding my tongue but like, this shit is unacceptable and people should probably know.

Really weird and different to the norm, and I haven't seen the inside for myself mind you, but I've serviced older Taiko cabinets and I know what they SHOULD look like, and I'm not liking what I'm seeing on these US built cabinets.

The problem is that Namco is FORBIDDING techs from adjusting sensitivity (or doing any maintenance at all tmk)

But ALSO, people are hitting the ever loving SHIT out of them because of the dropped inputs and this is likely causing further damage
