CSOs can support public prosecutors to hold corporations accountable for climate impacts by documenting and providing evidence of harm. @redesjdh.bsky.social, a SAGE grantee, provided evidence in a case that led to the conviction of a land grabber for burning 1,500 hectares of the Brazilian Cerrado.

Litigation: To ensure that the transition is just, SAGE grantees, ProDESC and ‪@ecchr.bsky.social‬, sued a French energy company for violating Indigenous rights by developing a wind farm on their territory in Oaxaca, Mexico, without their consent.

IDI and their partner, Equitable Cambodia, developed Follow the Money, a corporate research service provided to communities and their allies. In one case, Cambodian families received remedy after being displaced by a sugar company that stole land and destroyed forests. www.followingthemoney.org

The Fair Steel Coalition, funded by SAGE, seeks to transform the steel sector, responsible for approx. 7% of global GHG emissions. They documented the environmental and human rights impacts of the subsidiaries of 2 steel companies thru a participatory process. cer.org.za/reports/the-...
