John M. Ford is, pound for pound, the best writer I have read. His poetry puts most to shame, and his prose is poignant and evocative. Many writers can make you see the landscape; Ford lets you smell it.

Be like Hellboy.
A quick note on Nazis Hellboy faces Nazis in several of his adventures. In the world of Hellboy, pockets of Nazi evil hold out in the remote places of the world (or in space... which is very remote) before trying to once more plunge the planet into chaos and war. Hellboy, tyhe BPRD and this game have one response to Nazis. It's to punch them, very very hard, in the face. And then do it again just to be sure. If you've got the Right hand of Doom, and you can use it to punch a Nazi in the face, you do it as hard and as often as possible.

Every action of the current regime administration is to either get their hands on the money (or ways to generate it) or to throw up a handful of base-facing executive orders that will be eventually thrown out. Consider Hans Gruber in Die Hard. The first thing the terrorists do is issue a list of outrageous demands. Because they’re not terrorists. They’re thieves. Having the opposition scrambling around, finding answers to the thousand questions just raised gives the thieves plenty of time to get to the money and go. Look at the actions of 47 and E.M. Neither are trying to govern. One is a delusional narcissist led by the nose by his handlers. The other is a slightly less delusional narcissist who wants to go to Mars. If we’re too busy surviving in economic and social ruin, we won’t notice when they get on AF1 and land in Moscow. E.M. will be just another oligarch, and 47 will fill a hole behind the dacha.

Remember: a tactic of oppression and suppression is exhaustion. The goal is to wear you down into surrender and complacency, then threaten your ease and peace if you resist. Resist anyway. Find new ways to disobey. Make fun of them. Laugh at them when they don't intend to be funny. Demand they explain themselves. Let them rand then say "I don't understand - say that again?" Utilize weaponized incompetence. Exhaust them back!

That power was a cocreation of the American people. It belongs to them. The oligarchs around Trump are working now to take it for themselves. Theirs is a logic of destruction. It is very hard to create a large, legitimate, functioning government. The oligarchs have no plan to govern. They will take what they can, and disable the rest. The destruction is the point. They don’t want to control the existing order. They want disorder in which their relative power will grow.

A shout-out to all the authors, artists, and other creators who are actively building the community. It's not a competiton, or if it is, the real pros don't seem to think so.
I read Deacon's introduction as a 'locksmith' and I rather enjoyed it. I've always admired your writing talents since the OWW days, and you haven't lost your touch. It reminds me a little of Glen Cook's style, where the dialogue drives the narrative rather than description and such (at least so far). If I picked this up in a book store, I'd certainly read further, and I'm not telling you that to make you feel good. Have you considered submitting it to a publisher? You should (or shop it around to an agent).
