We need to connect people in crisis to housing, treatment and stability. Urge Portland leaders to take two steps:

2️⃣ Connect people from deflection into housing and recovery

Oregonians deserve solutions that deliver meaningful accountability, repair harm, and keep families together. Incarcerating mothers destabilizes families and communities — and it doesn’t make us safer.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Every survivor deserves healing, safety, and accountability. Yet, for too long, the experiences and needs of survivors of color have been overlooked in shaping public safety systems and services.

Oregonians deserve a public safety
system that invests in healing, stability, and
opportunity.

However, the state's reliance overreliance on

FSAP is a smart, cost-effective solution that helps parents remain with their children while staying accountable for harm. After operating as a pilot program for 10 yrs, FSAP became permanent this year with the passage of HB 2555 — huge thanks to our advocates and community partners!

With the near-unanimous passage of HB 2555, the Family Sentencing Alternative Program (FSAP) is now a permanent part of Oregon’s criminal justice system! Now, FSAP will be able to serve more families and provide culturally specific services when applicable.
