📢 Children have been bullied by adults and children, denied remote education & families threatened with fines – just for trying to stay safe in a pandemic.

This is the reality for Clinically Vulnerable families.

Read CVF's new blog ahead of the #CovidInquiry children’s module👇 which starts 29 Sep

Oh dear, they can't do that.

By their own admission they STILL don't have a pandemic response plan for a respiratory/airborne pandemic. They've only just started work on one.

Hmmm. A bit late now! Would have been nice to have had such a response plan in 2020

Exercise Pegasus - The UK Prepares for Pandemic simulation.

I wonder whether key stakeholders will be invited to join as participants or observers?

By "key stakeholders” I mean those who will die or be seriously harmed when Gov UK gets it wrong (again!)

As per COSHH Regulations ‘hierarchy of control’, the use of ventilated headboards (engineering control) has precedence over PPE & should be the first choice.

That said, the cost/time involved in setting this up at scale to cope with another pandemic may not be practicable.

The most effective means of HCW protection were:

‘ventilated headboards’ (local air extraction to remove the plume of aerosol around patient’s head);

and

Powered respirators (deliver HEPA-filtered air to wearer).

Size Matters!???

This topic exposes how the IPC authors are still wedded to principle of aerosols being ‘respirable’ i.e. 5 microns or less, despite the expert evidence at the Covid-19 Inquiry.

Getting this wrong means that Healthcare Workers are given inadequate respiratory protection.

The legal aspects are clearly explained:

Let’s double-down on that FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE AUTHORS OF THE IPC MANUALS:

It clarifies the legal status both of Surgical Masks and Respiratory Protective Equipment (eg FFP3, reusables, powered hoods). It blows away the myth contained in IPC Manuals and many other places by people who would have us believe FRSMs protect us against Covid-19, flu (etc)

This has been prepared by BOHS, acknowledged experts in all matters relating to PPE and health risks at work (including microbiological risks).

Following from Question 3 above, here we see the HSE Policy Director suggesting that healthcare workers, injured by occupational exposure to Covid-19, may just want some "incredible retribution for what happened to them"

No! Not retribution! They just wanted an official record made of their case.

PS Just noticed that the image in the first item in this thread (Dr Hammond’s article) wasn't very clear to read, so here it is again...

Dr Phil Hammond reveals in Private Eye that CATA (the Covid Airborne Transmission Alliance) is threatening to take the UK Government to Court for a judicial review.

Pre-action protocols require the parties to attempt to resolve their issues out of Court.

This paper provides more background on the need for powered respirators.

Submissions to the Covid Inquiry that it is too difficult to train HCWs in their use or that the technology is too complex for healthcare workers were rubbish.

Following her recent letter, CATA has written to the Minister respectfully advising her that, as per her predecessor (Gwynne), she’s been badly advised.
One can only speculate whether by DHSC, UK-HSA or the NHS/IPC “droplet, not airborne” dogmatists.

For all their claiming to follow World Health Organisation guidance, this speaks volumes…

To illustrate the ‘questionable competency’ point, they openly suggest this method to achieve a secure fit for fluid resistant surgical masks.

These people are, indeed, the friend of the pathogenic virus - providing a nice yawning gap around the cheeks for easy entry to the respiratory system.

COSHH, and associated Approved Code of Practice requires RPE to protect against ALL routes of transmission - especially when the hazardous agent is “airborne”.

Whether or not ‘PREDOMINENTLY airborne’ as mistakenly believed by some of the less competent witnesses during module 3

History may come to view this as the most egregious act of disregard for 'right to life’ perpetrated upon its workforce in the history of NHS.

(right to life within the meaning of Article 2, Human Rights Act)
February 7, 2025 at 2:38 AM
The Government assured Healthcare Workers that these loose-fitting, flimsy surgical masks would keep them safe when providing close-quarter care to patients who were infectious with a disease which clearly had the potential to kill them (and did).
February 7, 2025 at 2:36 AM
This does NOT include any form of surgical mask (aka medical mask) (aka ‘baggy blue’) These devices are not legally recognised as PPE in the UK. They never have been.
