I mean whisper it if you want, but if the P&R buses are free, aren't we effectively building a free bus network like Manchester has - except Oxford would now be the biggest and best in the entire UK - out of absolutely nowhere?

Oxford’s Park & Ride buses could be free in November and December as part of the congestion charge scheme. Oxfordshire County Council says the proceeds from the congestion charge will fund free P&R bus travel “to enhance the attractiveness of the city centre whilst managing limited car parking”.

What i find amazing is that a few years ago - it was "there's congestion everywhere and it's all the LTN's fault" and post congestion charge announcement, it's errr, nah there's no traffic at all, everything's fine.

When Cllr Henwood states that Thames Street and Hollow Way "do not suffer from congestion", we have to ask - What warped view of the city does he have ?

#ictf25 - I've been trying to understand why I haven't connected to this panel talk by MS, but the truth is that it feels so unrelated to the business end of the University - this is a talk for the centre, not for the departments or colleges.

Oxford residents are to get a kerbside recycling service for clothes, bedding and other textiles. Collections are free and must be booked online. A new textiles recycling bank will also be installed at Rose Hill Community Centre. The service goes live on 31 January. www.oxford.gov.uk/goes-bin/rec...

I'm finally back from seeing family just in time for #fik63!
I've been saying my phrase "the business end of mental health" too often recently.
Truly; I love this time of year but it's easy to forget how fucking tough it is for so many people.

As a test, I created a completly fake scenario which it would take a human a few minutes to realise that this was a scam, ChatGPT fell for it hook line and sinker. It even then doubled down and asked me if I wanted more information about this research (which didn't exist) and the background to it!
Interested in a lot of this stuff about people using ChatGPT as a therapy replacement. One of it's weaknesses is that it very much accepts what is said at face value, and doesn't push or question what you've said. Not ideal from a therapeutic pov unless you just want validation...
