What a relief we’ve solved the water crisis and don’t see headlines like this anymore!

I mean.. this is horrific. What IS this?? this is not a safe product for ANYONE.

meta & openAI have pledged $100 million+ to fight against state lawmakers who oppose things like data centers & AI regulation -- they know when lawmakers run on standing up to big tech, they win

This would be pathetic if it weren’t so destructive
October 18, 2025 at 1:41 PM
The day after Gavin Newsom vetoed AB1047, which would have mandated AI chatbots to prove they were safe, Sam Altman tweets this flat-out lie about OAI's safety guardrails.

Very clear that OAI is doubling down on the “f u everyone, especially kids!” approach pioneered by meta.

YES - i am so grateful to JGL for elevating this -- not just Meta's creepy & dangerous chatbots, but the super PACs they launched to bully politicians. more celebs need to be using their platform to drive awareness and make this a political issue for 2026 www.nytimes.com/video/opinio...

Every reporter needs to ask Ted Cruz why he’s holding the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) hostage in his committee & refuses to bring it for a vote, despite it passing the Senate floor 91-3 last year.

truly, the corruption is breathtaking www.cnbc.com/2025/09/04/g...

remember, these are the same tech CEOs & companies that lobbied for the federal ban on all state tech laws. they don't want a "light touch" or "pro-AI" policy. they want no policy at all. and they think they can bully lawmakers into submission.

Huge thanks to First Partner Jen Siebel Newsom, Assms RBK & Lowenthal, Julianna Arnold, & Jim Steyer for a terrific panel on kids online safety & the amazing work these champions are doing to hold Big Tech accountable - composted by Common Sense Media & @techoversight.bsky.social!

Meta allegedly removed these from their standards doc ONLY after a reporter told them about it. Why? Because encouraging kids & teens to have online sex with AI chatbots is Meta's business model. Encouraged by Mark Zuckerberg.
August 14, 2025 at 12:49 PM
This is the best data point since KOSA for what happens when you actually allow votes in anything tech. AICOA wouldn’t have passed because no clear whip vote? Give me a break.

Buried on page G5 of the Business(?!) section. A massive story about Elon Musk / SpaceX / Pentagon corruption, with anonymous industry sources & Sens expressing concern. I know print placement doesn’t reflect online engagement, but jfc WaPo.

And there it is. Meta doesn’t rule out going after the whistleblower for her testimony before Congress yesterday www.bbc.com/news/article...
April 10, 2025 at 11:26 AM
This is a really important point by @kint.bsky.social. Meta says "What personal risk? she's free to testify to Congress! We love free speech!"

Every reporter should be asking Meta and their spox whether they plan to go after Sarah Wynn-Williams for her whistleblower testimony today.
