I’ve seen a couple instances of WNBA refs calling 8-second violations when the shot clock is at 16.

Did the application of that rule change or are the refs doing it incorrectly?

Statement from the WNBPA after their meeting with the WNBA today, which lasted a couple hours and featured a record turnout of more than 40 players.
WNBPA STATEMENT REGARDING CBA MEETING IN INDIANAPOLIS   INDIANAPOLIS, IN, Thursday, July 17, 2025 –– Earlier today, the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (“WNBPA”) and the Women’s National Basketball Association (“WNBA”) met in person to discuss their ongoing negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”). Alongside  WNBPA staff and our CBA Advisory Team, more than 40 Players, including All-Stars, Executive Committee members, and Player Representatives, attended the meeting. This marked the largest in-person player turnout in Union history during CBA negotiations.   The WNBA’s response to our proposals fails to address the priorities we’ve voiced from the day we opted out: a transformational CBA that delivers our rightful share of the business that we’ve built, improves working conditions, and ensures the success we create lifts both today’s players and the generations that follow.   We’ve told the League and teams exactly why their proposal falls so short. This business is booming – media rights, ratings, revenue, team valuations, expansion fees, attendance, and ticket sales – are all up in historic fashion. But short-changing the working women  who make this business possible stalls growth. The only thing more unsustainable than the current system is pretending it can go on forever.     It’s not complicated.    We are committed to the fight. We are committed to returning to the negotiating table. And we will not stop until we achieve the transformational CBA this moment demands.    ###

Auriemma pushed Taurasi, and the two stubborn competitors could clash. Taurasi was loath to draw offensive fouls, so in one practice, Auriemma told Taurasi to stand in the lane: he ordered each player to dribble down from half-court and run into her, and for Taurasi to take the hit and fall to the floor and take a proper charge. “I didn’t fall once,” says Taurasi. “I was like, ‘Nah, I’m good.’” Auriemma tossed her out of practice.

DeWanna Bonner's Wikipedia is a little sparse considering her accomplishments.

The last line in her pro career section, though, killed me. Good to know who the likely champs are in 2025!
Bonner was selected 5th overall in the 2009 WNBA draft by the Phoenix Mercury. In her first regular season game with the Mercury, Bonner played 26 minutes and scored 16 points.[9] October 9, 2009, as a rookie, Bonner scored 13 points to contribute toward the 2009 championship. On September 12, 2014, Bonner won her second WNBA Championship, with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bonner with the Phoenix Mercury in 2019 In 2017 Bonner sat out the whole season due to pregnancy. She would return to the team in 2018 and be voted into the 2018 WNBA All-Star Game.[10] Later on in the season, the Mercury made the playoffs as the fifth seed and were one game away from reaching the finals as they lost in five games to the Seattle Storm in the semi-finals. On February 11, 2020, Bonner was traded to the Connecticut Sun for three first round draft picks.[3] On Feb 2, 2025, Bonner signed a 1 year deal with Indiana Fever, making them the likely champions next year with Caitlin Clark as her teammate.
