Yet another vacuous individual in the current government that clearly doesn't understand the importance of the need for housing whilst in consideration of ecologically important species. Both objectives can be achieved, merely takes a more open approach with better sensitivity of environmental needs

"These show life around #HydrothermalVents — also known as black smokers — which are underwater hot springs thousands of meters deep, where organisms convert chemicals into organic carbon, fueling unique ecosystems without needing sunlight."

Signed and reposted. I work at UoL and public engagement is the name of the game. Discovery Centres are incredibly popular and important for the Science and Nature mad kids that are going to be our future scientists. They are welcoming and encouraging to people of different backgrounds.

I have a couple of really cheap water bowls for the birds and they love them. A terracotta and a couple of oversized plastic plant pot saucers. The resident garden birds come down and make use of them for bathing and drinking. I refresh them every morning before heading into work. Help your birds!

Growing up as a nature mad kid in the late 70s early 80s in the UK it was the complete norm to have car window and numberplate insect splatter. Insecticide usage to improve crop yield for farmers - subsidised - especially wheat was encouraged. Reversing the damage will be much harder. 😑 #pollinators

First saw one of these awesome dinosaur birds on a birding trip to Uganda in 1994 at Murchsion Falls. Also had a cool warthog family coming into our Overland truck camp chomping on our leftover pineapple heads. Great experience🤘

The recent SMARTEX project paper in Nature that I co-authored highlights the decadal impacts of deep sea mining. #TheMetalsCompany are well aware of the impacts from their trial nodule extraction tests in the CCZ. Ignoring it for profit.

Long-term impact and biological recovery in a deep-sea mining track - Nature
Four decades after a test mining experiment that removed nodules, the biological impacts in many groups of organisms persist, although populations of several organisms have begun to re-establish despi...
