I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a bit of well researched, well written history with very clear links drawn to things that still happen today.

My 'little' apple tree, which doesn't get enough sun on the lower branches, and has a canker with a long name I can't remember, is covered in apples.

They're talking about leprosy on BBCR4 Start The Week. We had a leper colony where I live, and these are two (of the original seven) leper fiends created in mediaeval times.

The tide is coming in and this is what is being pumped out by the sewage station just up river.

When I came here 11 years ago, it was taken by barge to a treatment plant. Now they just put it straight into the river.
