Some impressions from the Accelerating net-zero transitions paper development workshop in Brighton last week!

Hiking in the Sussex countryside with the whole group was a highlight of the workshop.

Thank you to for the fantastic organisation @karogge.bsky.social, Qi Song and Daniel Rosenbloom.

POV: You’re an energy transition researcher headed home for Christmas to a very conservative part of Germany, and your vacation now involves debunking myths like “EVs pollute more,” “fusion will save us soon,” and “renewables cause blackouts”—all while passing the potatoes. #energysky

Happy to see this article in press! 🚚⚡
In this paper, I argue that it is time for a paradigm change in road freight transport planning and propose a sufficiency-oriented planning approach for electrification that can account for the multi-system complexities of this transition. 🔌💡

We map multi-system interactions across regime fields using social network analysis and reveals that interactions are multi-dimensional in the sense that dominant actors, actor positions, interaction patterns, and their nature vary across different fields.

To reveal endogenous regime, change dynamics our paper defines each regime dimension (technology, science, policy, market and user preference, & socio-cultural meaning) as a distinct field and introduces a novel framework to analyse actor interactions across these regime fields.

Happy to see our opinion piece published in the news 📰

We argue that the County's subsidies for the local airport, despite its high CO2 footprint, clashes with cuts in public transport. We advocate for reallocating funds to create an equitable, sustainable transport system! #TransportSky #GreenSky
