By your definition, scientism is worse for qualitative compared to quantitative research (and I think both develop methodological tools to deal with it). So how do you explain the criticism going from qual to quant? Projection?

This came up earlier in the literature. For example, Erev and Greiner's 1-800 critique or Gilboa, Potlewaite, Samuelson and Schmeidler's argument about rule-based vs. case-based disciplines.
