Thank you very much. Sometimes I did wonder how I could've done it myself to that point

By the PS4 and PS5 era, rentals became impossible for hopping gamers like me. Strict DRM, limited titles, long installs, and shared saves killed mobility. The freedom of plug-and-play was gone. Modern consoles just aren’t worth the hopping hassle.

It is how it is.

PS2 rentals let you bring your own games and saves privacy in a public space. But PS3/Xbox rentals made everyone share HDDs and pay more. Personal play gave way to communal setups where only PES or Winning Eleven ruled the screens.

When rentals moved to PS3 and Xbox 360, gaming got harder. You had to install games on the shop’s HDD (because portable HDD is pricey for me), taking 15–30 minutes and shared space. Once you left, your data was deleted. The freedom of PS2 games and memory cards mobility were gone.

In Indonesia’s PS2 rental era, gamers brought their own memory cards, jumped between shops, and played pirated discs freely. You didn’t need to own a console. Just "plug, play, and go". It was gaming on the move, cheap and surprisingly personal.
