As a Wisconsinite whose state sees very little funding for federal disasters, I wonder how long Florida, Texas, and Louisiana could pay their own way when hurricanes ravage their states. That’s the point of risk-spreading and helping each other. That’s the point of having UNITED States.
THE REASON THAT FEMA EXISTS IS BECAUSE STATES COULD NOT DEAL WITH LARGE SCALE DISASTERS BY THEMSELVES *IN THE 1970S.*
Now the disasters are bigger, there are homeland security threats, and this guy wants to roll us back 50 years.
