If he did, I wouldn't know. I'm not privy to the discussions that go on between him, Euroclear and the EU leadership respectively. The specifics of those discussion are not publicly disclosed, neither has he commented on them in that way.

What that image states is a gross oversimplification.

As a Belgian, I actually understand his position. I would like nothing more for those funds to be used for Ukraine, however, we cannot be expected to face the repercussions alone. And De Wever is clearly unsatisfied in this regard, which is unfortunate.

Ironically, 4A games went on to develop the metro series of games which is based on a Russian novel and takes place in Moscow...

Even more ironic, 4A games relocated to Malta in May 2014, following the Russian annexation of Crimea in February of that same year.

Interesting, however, GSC is known to be a dubious employer with a toxic work environment. So I'm not sure anyone should encourage that by advocating for them. That is why 4A games got formed (by ex GSC employees)

A part of that story is told in this video from Raycevick:

I honestly laughed out loud when I read that.
Then what are they negotiating over? The silver lining may be that this mafia ultimatum the Trump administration and the Russians are cooking up, and have the audicity to call a 'peace deal', may definitively be relegated to the dustbin...

Throw this plan into the trash where it belongs.

Taking up the exact middle ground between any two positions is not the definition of centrism. Centrism is about balance and gradual, instead of radical, change. A centrist would oppose a genocidal position for that very reason alone, in addition to their moral objections to it.

It's not entirely right either. What we have to do is say: no longer. And then the process of correcting this can begin. We should start constructing replacement institutions of our own as well.

And the left's generaly unreasonable attitude at that time made it easy for far-right parties to present themselves as the more resaonable choice because the attitude of the left leaning camp displayed anything but reasonableness and tried to "bully" anyone with even a slight concern into submission

Centrism is anything but "soulless"

So: the better option would be to fight Russia (as we should have from the start), topple its regime and subsequently take control of those resources (especially the energy ones).
November 22, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Nothing will be able to stop that though. And the result of throwing ukraine under the bus will be that they will lose EU support in their struggle against China. When things ever go "hot" between them I think we will stand on the sidelines (and at this point we actually really should do just that).
November 22, 2025 at 9:14 PM
I'm afraid that's where our strengths were (past tense). Our societies are increasingly in chaos and being chocked by bureaucracy (just as the soviet union was). In my opinion, the similarities on that front with the late USSR are too pronounced for comfort. We need to reverse this trend.
November 22, 2025 at 9:08 PM
I'm willing to bet that, before that happens, he'll swing back in favor of Ukraine for a moth or two.

Eerlijk, omtrent die hele oorlog is het klimaat aspect hetgene waar ik het minst wakker van lig...

Ja
November 15, 2025 at 12:18 AM
That's honestly a horrible way to do things. So many of the challenges we face today were, in my opinion, either preventable or of our own making through lack of vision in certain areas and blind, misguided, idealism in others.

I increasingly believe that Europe as a geopolitical entity is finished. I'd love, truly love, to believe otherwise. Though I'm not seeing anything to indicate otherwise.
November 11, 2025 at 1:16 AM
I'd rather see a united Europe, under EU banner, with a single direction that is represented as a whole within NATO, rather than fragmented.

They always say that, only it does seem 'that simple' for anybody else that isn't us.
November 7, 2025 at 10:29 AM
Interesting... I'm wondering whether they even have any left at this point.
