It's not that time is irrelevant with @ruthhazleton.bsky.social's gripping new album, it's that it stretches & bends to accommodate stories & sounds that remake your view of folk, & folks.

Agnes Sampson, a midwife and healer from North Berwick, was accused in 1590 of raising storms against King James VI’s fleet. Her trial reveals the tangled roots of folklore, politics, and misogyny in Scotland’s witch panic. #FolkloreThursday

If the Albanese government wanted a trade policy retaliation for the Trump tariffs, I’ve got just the thing: local content requirements for American content companies. Force Netflix to carry 25% Australian content for local audiences, or pay a big levy

Have come to the conclusion that grant-writing is essentially a task in being able to reformat templates to answer hideously-worded questions, over-complicate simple project ideas and over-simplify complex creative process. I swore I’d not do this again, but here I am.

Sage advice, though we’re still waiting for Australia’s first confirmed witch bottle, and that becomes less and less likely with the passing of time.

Apotropaic markings and concealed shoes, however, we have a wealth of these!

Urine bottles... If you find a bottle of urine in your building it may not be magical or a "witch bottle". Builders did, and still do, pee in bottles and conceal them when it is too difficult to leave the site.

My excellent brilliant partner, Lorana Bartels, writes today that mandatory minimum sentences are bad policy.

Applying this bad policy to the real problem of antisemitism and other hate crimes is particularly ironically stupid, as it undermines the rule of law.

This shit will only make shit worse.
Mandatory minimum sentencing is proven to be bad policy. It won’t stop hate crimes
Extensive evidence shows the government’s plan to legislate mandatory minimum sentences for hate crimes, including antisemitic acts, won’t be effective. Here’s why.
