Very much looking forward to walking towards new horizons with a bunch of brilliant people on Saturday 10th May - if you like a gander in the hills & believe in futures that are different to true past including for those who have spent time in prison, join us! #lakedistrict #JoanWearmouthWalk25

The fact the police here have uniforms that say ‘secret service’ in big letters does not, it would appear, amuse them as much as it has amused me.

Delighted to be working with the Organisation of American States in Washington DC to think about how to understand and reliably measures experiences of people convicted of drug trafficking pre and post prison. What a great group of people working here together!

Today is an exciting day! I’m off to #HMPPrescoed #PrisonFarm with #sixinchesofsoil to see the work they are doing and discuss #regenerativefarming and #generativejustice - are there principles we can pull through the ways we love together that would help us to do all of our life better together?

Delighted to be presenting for over 200 delegates on behalf of the Organisation of American States with Judge Jimena Monsalve who leads problem solving courts in Argentina, talking about what the evidence on problem-solving courts for women can teach us about justice systems change.

‘Dehumanising the vulnerable is a great way to excuse yourself from helping them’ - so so true. Can’t recommend this book enough.

Ridiculous use of public money. I’m currently reading ‘Poor’ - this child, and many others, should be protected through our tax money, not prosecuted.

Received this beautiful note from a friend of mine. I shall be framing it and referring to it as my mantra in 2025.

I’ve just discovered this poem ‘Wait without hope’ by T.S. Eliot for the first time and it feels absolutely perfect for the end of a fairly brutal 2024 and the huge hope I’m feeling at the start of a new 2025 - a year of joy in the active waiting (delighted to just be). Love to all in 2025 x

Post Christmas joy of returning (slowly) to work. Son still seizure free and writing thank you cards, fire on, dog relaxing and generative justice paper edits nearly complete. Joyeux Noel!

So here’s some Christmas cheer … after a brief spot of brain surgery last Friday today I’m getting to take my brilliant boy home. Four days seizure free and counting. Merry Christmas everyone. Not a stitch of preparation done but we have all we need. #epilepsy #seizures #gratitude #greatormondstreet

This is likely to be my favourite chapter of the new book by @miranda.bsky.social if only because it has one of my guilty pleasure favourite sings as its soundtrack!

To be alive - by Gregory Orr
‘To be alive, not just the carcass,
but the spark.
That’s crudely put, but if we’re not supposed to dance, why all this music?’

Delighted to learn that today @schreeche.bsky.social will be lecturing his students on a paper I wrote with colleagues, combining our data to understand when how & why people who are moving away from crime reoffend, & how to re-rail desistance. Hope it resonates & discussion is good!
