That is completely incorrect. Planning has nothing to do with building compliance whatsoever. After planning is approved it's possible that the council may not have any involvement in the project at all—especially if they used Approved Inspector for Building Regs, which is likelyin this case.

I don't understand why this article appears to conflate planning policy and construction quality, when they're entirely different things?

Indeed, this has been my understanding for some time now, but we’re still seeing them being used for most large projects. I don’t understand why.

I’ve lost count of the number of articles I’ve written about design & build contracting being the fundamental reason for so many construction catastrophes. And, as night follows day, another example comes to light. When are we going to learn?
