I’m an artist, gardener, avid reader, and servant for two senior cats. I work primarily as a Metalsmith, also in photography and printmaking. I have an MFA. I live in - gasp - Alabama.
Here’s a sampling of some more of the stones from the 54th Annual Montgomery Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show :). So many stunning fossils! Plus jewelry and loose gemstones. Drool worthy!

If you have never been to a Gem and Mineral Show here’s a sample of what you might find :). These are at the Montgomery Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show today through Sunday - but wherever you live I’ll bet there’s a show near you at some point in the year. Fossils, meteorites, gemstones, jewelry :)

Some flowers blooming inside :).

My 16 1/2 year old cat 🐈‍⬛ Tenzing totally approves of my new son in law :). John is tall and strong, holds him high enough to look out the kitchen window at the birds, and is great for napping 😴 :) At one point over the weekend the two of them went to sleep like this in the recliner! #cats #seniorcat

The Christmas tree is up with lights on! Today we start the ornaments :). In SC I would wait until the first full weekend in December to get my tree. I have learned that if I wait that long here in Alabama only the dregs are left - if they haven’t sold out already!

Tenzing is 16 1/2, and is thrilled his “girl” now has a “boy” to add to family gatherings :). He finds my son in law to be a very welcome addition - perfect for napping on! Both of them went to sleep in one of the recliners :) #cats #seniorcats #blackcats #family

I brought my hibiscus inside before the first freeze. It’s quite happy :). I’m not quite far enough south for it to overwinter outside :(.

Tenzing enjoying a walk in the yard (his treat after every vet visit). Me enjoying what turned out to be the last day of the Cosmos - we had two hard freezes in a row, and they now look limp and sad :(.

Some of the flowers currently blooming in my garden, including some very happy pollinators :). I’m in a planned neighborhood, where most of the yards are sterile grass and non-flowering bushes- nothing for pollinators :( #pollinators #bees #gardening #garden #flowers #insects

Birds at the feeders by the kitchen window, and flowers currently blooming with pollinators enjoying them :) #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardening #birds #pollinators #annuals #perennials

Seeds! So often gardeners don’t realize the importance of allowing at least some of their flowers to go to seed! There are many creatures who feast on the seeds :) Shown are seeds from 4 different plants in my #garden. #seeds #gardening #nature #flowers #wildlife

I thought Tsar Nicholas was in the “cocoon” he had made on the love seat (first picture). Then realized he was actually in the antique handmade cradle :) My father and his brother and sisters all slept in this cradle as babies, as did my daughter :)

Some of what’s blooming on my yard now, with very happy pollinators (most people just have grass and non-blooming bushes - so no food for pollinators). As it gets colder they really need food and shelter! #pollinators #gardening #bees #flowers #insects

Early morning sun shining through some of my flowers.

Some of what’s currently blooming in my garden, plus some pollinators thoroughly enjoying the flowers I planted for them :). Grass lawns and bushes along houses are artificial constructs - fairly modern ones. Please consider planting flowers instead! #pollinators #flowers #gardening #bees

Some photos of my front yard, with lots of flowers still blooming :). This is the first year with the whole front yard in flowers - it will get better each year! The HOA isn’t quite sure what to think of it :). They are used to grass lawns - which aren’t natural at all :(

Please send loving vibes to my friend’s cat Ollie in Australia - he has inoperable cancer :(. He’s such a sweet boy. Heartbroken 💔

Apparently my foot is a good pillow while waiting for the vet :). Tenzing is 16, and has had this harness and leash since he was five weeks old :)

If you’re not familiar with this, the Teal Pumpkin Project is a project committed to offering allergy free treats for Halloween, so kids with allergies can still participate. Food allergies can KILL! Please, please offer some non-food treats! I do inexpensive art supplies :) #Halloween #allergies

Pollinators enjoying my Cosmos :). They are so happy to have food I can walk right up to them and they ignore me :). My Dad, who would wait at the edge of a field with his mule hooked to the hand plow as a boy, taught me not to fear bees. Bees are critical to us having food!

Some pollinators enjoying my pollinator garden! Makes me so happy to see them! They particularly like the Cosmos - the orange flowers. These are “monster” Cosmos that get over 6’ tall and self seed enthusiastically :) #pollinators #monarchbutterfly #butterflies #bees #flowers #gardening #garden

From my garden - a frog, a butterfly enjoying the Cosmos, a Knockout Rose, and a moth? enjoying the Swamp Sunflowers. Enjoy :)
