I literally asked you a question so I could make plans around your answer. So when you say “nothing” to me that means “nothing.” Don’t come back later asking me to drive you somewhere. #Parenting

Don’t mind me, I’m just spinning out of control losing my ish. So please, keep peppering me with questions as I try and get my 💩 together.

@minakimes.bsky.social really said “I don’t think the Broncos have the horses against the Eagles secondary” on the @domoniquefoxworth.bsky.social show today and nobody seemed to catch it.

Finished “Vineland” by Thomas Pynchon. Very interesting book. Well written. Though challenging to follow at times. #Booksky 📖

Halfway through S.A. Cosby’s “My Darkest Prayer.” This book quickly drew in with the way he writes his characters. So much depth built into the characters and the plot but still moves quickly and fluidly. #Blackbooksky 📚 #Booksky📚

@shunnyreads.bsky.social how have you enjoyed reading S.A. Cosby? I heard about him last week on a podcast. Just got his first book today, “My Darkest Prayer” to read.

I’m constantly blown away by N. K. Jemisin’s writing. Just finished Book 1 of her The Broken Earth Trilogy, “The Fifth Season.” Mind blown 🤯 by the way the story and characters came together. Can wait to start Book 2, “The Obelisk Gate” later today. #Blackbooksky📚 #Booksky📚

Read “My Dear Henry: A Jekyll and Hyde Remix” this week. It is a remarkable retelling of the original but with the men meeting earlier in school among other variances. Definitely worth the read. #Booksky 📖 #Blackbooksky📖

“The Warmth of Other Suns” is an amazing look at the Great Migration. Wish I hadn’t waited so long to get it off my TBR List. Also, glad I read it after “Driving While Back.” #BlackBooksky #Booksky

Started reading “Washington Black” this week. The book has taken a highly different turn than I expected after the first two chapters. But I’m enjoying it ‘cause it is keeping my guessing. Highly recommend it. #Blackbooksky 📚 #Booksky📚

“A History of the African-American People (Proposed) by Strom Thurmond” by James Percival and James Kincaid is the funniest book I have read since “Catch-22” #Booksky 📚 #Blackbooksky 📚

Percival Everett is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I just finished “Erasure” today. I love the way he puts you in the role of the main character as you’re reading. #Blackbooksky 📚 #Booksky📚

How did we get here? you ask:
Remember there is a generation of people who didn’t go to school for 8 years because of Brown v Board of Education. States literally shut down public schools instead of integrating.

Starting “Runs in the Family” by @sarahspain.com today. This is an amazing story and after today’s proceedings, the mental pick me up I need and deserve. #Booksky

The last chapter of “A Clockwork Orange” was not originally published in the U.S. but it was in other countries. The missing chapter had an effect on the movie as well, though Kubrick knew of the 21st chapter. #Booksky 📚

Starting reading “The Battle Drum” by Saara El-Arife. It’s the second of the Broken Earth trilogy. It’s definitely taking me places I didn’t expect, quite unpredictable. Hoping to finish it tomorrow. #Blackbooksky 📚 #Booksky 📚

George Floyd was murdered for $20. Boelter who assassinated two elected state officials and their spouses was arrested unharmed and charged with ONLY second degree murder. This is the systemic discrimination we are talking about.

The fact that TFG wanted this parade and looks like the most uninterested person there is infuriating. Almost as infuriating as the fact that he never served because of his “bone spurs.”
