He hissed and flailed to maintain balance. Before he toppled, Tenna gripped his hand and steadied him. “Easy there,” he murmured. “No need to rush it. Baby steps. Take it a night at a time.” Mettaton clutched Tenna’s hand like his life depended on it. The pink in his cheeks deepened in saturation. “What if it takes me forever to get it right?” “Then I guess I’ll be working forever and a day, huh?” He gave Mettaton’s hand a light squeeze. “I’m game if you are.”

25) well I had a lot to say apparently
I love writing. I love the feeling of getting lost in a good book. I love using words to explore characters and their dynamics so I can better understand them. I love expanding on moments that were left out in canon and contemplate the possibilities before and after canon. I love playing with prose in a way that brings everything to life, to make the reader feel like they're THERE and must experience what the characters are experiencing to better understand their stories. I love finding ways to articulate the most painful moments, the simple luxuries, the lulls between the chaos. I love expressing a complex idea in a single sentence that will haunt you. I love making people laugh and cry and gasp and cheer and feel WAY less alone in this fucking world. I love putting a little bit of me in all my stories and sharing that with others. And because I keep writing and reading, the improvement just happens naturally. You're always getting better if you keep working on something you love. And I've always loved writing, so I guess I'm always improving—as a writer and a person.

But Tenna didn’t leave. He stayed. And he also said— “Would it help if I SHOWED YOU?” Mettaton froze. Wait. What did he mean by that? He...? No, he couldn’t possibly imply— “Because,” he added, quieter and closer, “I’d be happy to do so.”

Beside him on the counter were two stockings. Dark, sheer fabric with a visible back seam. Left very little to the imagination. Paired with his knee-high boots and black shorts in lieu of pants... ho boy, that planted plenty of thoughts in Tenna’s mind. And now he was responsible for slipping them onto Mettaton’s legs—those gorgeous and devious legs—while keeping his cool. Oh, and wrap it up before they took to the stage. Yeah. Walk in the park. What could possibly go wrong?

Tenna willed himself to move away, yet not a gear twitched. Mettaton held his stare. Another moment, and realization glimmered in that eye, accompanied by a gasp, a grin. “You are jealous,” he said.

It provoked Mettaton to yell, “JUST KISS ALREADY!” six times. Once the credits rolled, Tenna readied five other channels for their next feature. Mettaton kept him on his toes. Best to be prepared. Except not that night. No, he never reached for the remote control to browse his options. Mettaton simply lounged in bed, avoiding the television screen. And he threw Tenna a different kind of plot twist.
