Scientists, I know y’all are busy turning lead into gold or whatever but can somebody work on making a cat toy that doesn’t do this?

Like with, I don’t know, magnets or something?

A question that will be at least as important as how to reclaim political power in America will be how to convince people to go back to acting in their own interests.

A significant number of Americans look at what’s happening right now, the lawlessness the corruption, and don’t see a problem.

Top Democratic scientists at Democracy Lab(tm) have made a breakthrough discovery:

A new center at the center of what previously was thought to be the most center may exist.

All available resources have been deployed to prove its existence.

The question of whether AGI is possible in the relatively near term is unresolved in my mind.

If we assume for a moment that it is possible or even likely, what makes me see it as an inevitably apocalyptic development is our under-evolved social, moral and political status as a species. (1/3)

So there’s some legitimately smart people saying LLM‘s are going to get better and better and are a precursor to a generalized AI that will outperform humans in most cognitive tasks
forcing a reorganization of all social and political structures in ways no one understands or can predict. (1/2)

Though they could take the power back if they so chose, (fat chance) this authority has largely been abdicated through the Insurrection Act.

This law’s requirements are poorly explained and leave virtually everything up to the discretion of the president.

Even by the standards of colonial Spain, Columbus‘s behavior was extraordinarily cruel.

Emperor tamarin reporting.

I never dragged a country into one of the bloodiest wars in history, decimating Europe, leading to the end of an empire, the establishment of the Weimar Republic and the eventual ascent of a certain Adolf Hitler, I just have a crazy mustache like Wilhelm II.

Once Upon a Time, an illiterate man held the #2 position in a small local Church. It was not a glamorous role but he was satisfied and did his work well.

One day a new rule came down from the Party Leaders that all Church employees must be able to read and write and the man was fired. (Cont.)

Currently reckoning with the awareness that it is not this Administration’s means, but its ends I find objectionable.

If instead we had an FDR-like figure over-leveraging executive power to achieve goals I aligned with I suspect I would find little cause to object.
