The question of whether AGI is possible in the relatively near term is unresolved in my mind.

So there’s some legitimately smart people saying LLM‘s are going to get better and better and are a precursor to a generalized AI that will outperform humans in most cognitive tasks
forcing a reorganization of all social and political structures in ways no one understands or can predict. (1/2)

Once Upon a Time, an illiterate man held the #2 position in a small local Church. It was not a glamorous role but he was satisfied and did his work well.
One day a new rule came down from the Party Leaders that all Church employees must be able to read and write and the man was fired. (Cont.)
