Lot of people are already passing this around with the usual "WHY ISN'T ANYONE DOING ANYTHING" shrieks, while ignoring the fact that the article literally says that this is a *significant* decrease from the warming that we were on track for even a few years ago.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

I’m sure the hung parliament that is likely to follow the next election will be able to make a decision 👍
A final decision on how to repair Britain’s crumbling parliament is likely to be postponed beyond the next general election, according to four people familiar with the matter.
Final decision on fate of crumbling UK parliament delayed to 2030s
It’s a fire-hazard that’s prone to tumbling masonry — but fear of a public backlash is again delaying repairs to the world famous building.

Yes. This has been their clear stated preference for some time.
Agree with all this but also, when Cummings et al say they'd like to *sink* the small boats, who do they imagine is going to do the sinking? Cummings seems to think it's the Navy, but the Royal Navy does its best to stop *enemy sailors* from drowning. Are they going to let asylum seekers drown?

Their greasy desperation for violence and carnage, so they can profit off it, is so disgusting.

A Bluesky stereotype that I unfortunately think fairly accurate is that the economic wonks here badly need more imagination beyond responding to every single fiscal issue the government faces with “why haven’t they trebled taxes yet”
