Sometimes it is handy to use archives formats that do not confuse our windows friends. Or perhaps you want a quick listing, or update files without reading and writing the entire thing (i.e. non-solid archives).

Zip or .7z can be handy. The problem is that with their Windows hertitage they do […]

People say tar is hard but of the top of my head here 34 ways to make a gzip compressed tar archive with GNU tar.

There are more but I got bored. 😜

P.S. Yes, I can defuse bombs.

Just a tip to turbo‑charge tar.xz archive compression/decompression on Linux & macOS

The thing is 'tar cJf' uses a single‑thread by default (on both platforms). While this works fine, it can be much slower on large archives.

On Linux you can unlock multithreading easily. GNU tar passes off […]

Due to circumstances well within our control (me being ridiculous), things have escalated from there. (Rainbow approves, though, which is what really matters.)

So I am just shy of 50 with a resting heart rate of 43 bpm. Either there is something wrong with me or I have athletic bradycardia from all the unicycling. I am hoping the latter. 🤣

I am on my way home to Toronto and the aurorae are absolutely phenomenal.

If you are anywhere in the northern half of the continent, get outside and look up! Or better still, put your camera on a 10 second exposure and point it up.
