I'm thrilled to have received the Natalie Zemon Davis Award from @sfhs.bsky.social for my paper on Tamil consumers, caste, and mechanical timepieces in 18C Pondicherry. NZD is such an inspiration to early modernists and it's a huge honor to receive this award!

Looks like the National Historic Preservation Act may be on the chopping block, too

Nearly finished tracking all Indian buyers at pre1760 Pondicherry estate sales
Here, in 1726, Patché/பச்சை purchased 50 pairs of glasses& 3 boxes of Chinese silk flowers 👓💐
Bittersweet feelings as I approach the end of the PhD. Not sure what next year will bring but relieved to be done w/inventories!

Things I did not expect to see in Paris: two of Lady Curzon’s gowns! At the Petit Palais Worth show.
The longer court dress was made in both Paris and India.
Really extraordinary exhibition. Certainly did not learn about Worth’s imperial clientele when I took fashion history in undergrad.

Fabulous Kent Monkman show at Denver Art Museum. The humor he brings to his critiques of settler art/history is so refreshing. So worth the trip!
