While I matt varnish my figures for gaming with, there’s always that “gloss varnish stage” when they seem to look better - more like toy soldiers (or, maybe, glossy boiled sweets). Maybe that second layer of gloss varnish wasn’t really needed 🤔😂

Glued and textured, so there’s nothing left to do. I might add a couple of tufts later, but being able to finish the figures completely when the last paint stroke is done is a big attraction 👍👍

For anyone intrigued about wasps and hornets, I can totally recommend this wonderful book by Seiran Sumner @waspwoman.bsky.social . And when this beautiful example arrived in the bathroom this morning, I knew it was less terrifying than it looked! (It’s now safely released!). Thanks Ms Sumner!!

We liked it. Blucher handled a large multi-Corps battle in just over two hours. We learned a lot about keeping a reserve, differences in artillery practices, etc. Good learning game. I'm keen to play again after re-reading these two classic from Paddy Griffith 👍
