The other side of the nostalgia fallacy I think is people longing for the “simplicity” of childhood. Kids only get exposed to a small subset of what adults are exposed to, and are cognitively unable to absorb a lot of complexity, so their perceived world is simple even though the actual world isn’t.

Could the state government change their labor law to allow companies to reclassify CA-resident employees as independent contractors to avoid withholding (but retain whatever protections they require for employees)?

Re: gerrymandering, either A) the top 3-4 parties in a state must all agree to the legislative map, or B) the lead party by vote draws the map, but all representatives in the state are voted for on an at large basis with the top N vote recipients assigned districts at random.
