When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.

We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.

While perusing videos of how people are shutting MAGA out of their lives and what reactions they're getting, I came across an interesting theory that explains both why MAGA are so confused that the rest of us are doing this, and why it's so upsetting to them.

They *need* leftists in their lives. 1/

I've been an activist and an organizer for almost 20 years.

In that time, I have *never* seen a space, system, or organization weakened or worsened by ensuring the inclusion of disabled folks.

Indeed, Boston Dyke March has been WONDERFULLY enriched by the presence of disabled comrades.
Conversely, as all the organizers I have ever worked with have pointed out, creating disability first spaces and systems makes those spaces and systems better for everyone every single time.

Turkeys just hit different on the Yucatán Peninsula.

This is the ocellated turkey (Meleagris ocellata): a somewhat showier, strikingly blue-skinned, more obviously iridescent and baubled cousin of the familiar slate-and-copper wild turkey (M. gallopavo)

Thanks for letting me know, we were thinking of buying some stuff there soon, but not if it means crossing a picket line.
Two vital pieces of info b4 Black Friday:

1. Price trackers have proven that Amazon has been slowly hiking prices so they can pretend to slash them on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. There are no actual deals. Just the appearance of them.

2. Amazon workers are on strike

1. This Thanksgiving, you and your family can all agree on one thing: salmonella is gross.

They’re resilient little germs that can survive hours to days on surfaces, and they can’t be killed by drying or freezing. Here’s how to keep them away 🧵

I hope them offering February appointment means they're not worried. My ophthalmologist's office once found me an appointment in two days, but that was for an existing patient. They also suggested the emergency room if I didn't want to wait even that long.

But on a purely pragmatic level, the desire to censor LGBTQ+ content, but *especially* trans content, is *the* current single primary driver of illiberal censorial bullshit internet laws today. Being vocal and adamant about trans rights and dismantling transphobia protects digital civil liberties.

The 2024 hurricane season was a wacko one. Micheal Mann’s take: “A more disturbing possibility is that the climate system is no longer behaving quite the way it used to, and some of the old rules and relationships no longer apply.” That’s my suspicion as well.

I’m looking for people who performed on Broadway in the 70s, particularly ppl worked with Ben Vereen or performed in any of the Black-themed shows so prevalent at that time.

If this is you or others you know, I appreciate any interest you may have in chatting with me.

Thank you!
