66M retired Laser Engineer. I traveled for a living for 12 years. Proud tree-hugging atheist vegetarian SJW. Former Machinist, Janitor, Mainframe Systems Analyst, shoe salesman, freelance writer, etc.
While my smartwatch was failing to update itself with AI I wore this mechanical watch that I put together 20 years ago. Just wind it. Hours and minutes. Indestructible.

I did not know that Yusuf Islam wrote The First Cut is the Deepest. I would have said that there was no connection between him and Sir Rod Stewart.

Nothing Sacred (1937). We watched this last night. Carole Lombard, Frederic March. Ben Hecht, William Wellman. A classic screwball comedy and still very funny. We really enjoyed it. Lombard looks like she’s having fun running a minor grift to get out of a small town until things get out of control.

It’s the second anniversary of setting my coffee cup on a hotel room counter and getting a fake eyelash stuck to the bottom.

You’re probably too busy to read your Nextdoor so I will summarize it for you as a service.

Apparently GM is permanently laying off 1,100 workers at Factory Zero where a lot of EV production takes place. I have been in that facility within the last year and lots of it was still being built out.

Yeah that was fun. Our new neighbors arrived yesterday. Florida license plate. I figured they didn’t have a shovel yet so I did theirs too. Ugh. Nap coming up.

We watched Animal Crackers for the first time tonight. I will have something to say about it later. Though I am open to being talked out of that.
1930 was a long time ago. This film makes it inescapably clear how humor has changed in 95 years.

Here’s a puzzle. The ground floor of this house, which can be walked in a loop, has only one step. If you walk forward up this step and counterclockwise through the house back to this point you will not have stepped down another step.

Not every plant lamp needs a microcontroller and RF remote control. Especially if it’s cheap and unreliable.
Replaced with a simple mechanical switch in a pill bottle.

I’ve flown over 900K miles since 2012. I don’t care what people wear as long as they pay attention to instructions, don’t bring stinky food onboard and refrain from phone calls in flight.
I don’t know what Duffy is up to here but he’s way off base.
