It’s v much an older left take on immigration. I mean obviously when you’ve got a higher number of workers (and especially those from more desperate backgrounds) it creates a positive labour supply shock, which does kinda drive down wages (albeit normally also see’s prices fall for consumers)

Incredible that the gov with a majority of around 150 seems more constrained than Maya gov with its working majority of like 2

Car factories already have robots as the norm.
None of them are humanoid, and with good reason, it adds complexity, it adds cost, and there’s no benefit for the work being done. The only advantage of humanoid robots is they ca. do a wider variety of work, but businesses don’t need variety, they

Insane that he won’t throw McSweeney under the bus. It wouldn’t prevent his (at this stage inevitable) removal, but it would have delayed it and placated some critics.

Fwiw ... nobody has acted well (except maybe the one who's just keeping her head down). The co-leaders are poor communicators, the party's president, whilst incredibly smart and a lifelong supporter of Māori rights, is also incredibly arrogant. Meanwhile

Sufficient locations for huge hydro facilities (we don’t) - then the only options available are nuclear or building a huge number of increasingly less productive renewable energy sources.

The wind is blowing heavily for instance you need to either have huge capacity for storage (which is expensive) or shut down turbines (effectively making the turned off ones have a productivity of zero).

So yes, nuclear is more expensive and slow, but it’s also essential. Unless you have

I mean aside from being one of the few ministers actually aggressively pushing a policy plan forward - his response to basically constant undermining by his opponents around the PMs circle, the papers, and the PLP, has been to steadfastly reject any attempt to push him to one side.
