Yep I prefer the view that your not going to agree with someone 100% and we are going to have push for change, so im really looking for the candidate whose going to be the most helpful and least likely to make extra work for me as an activist, it avoids perfectionism and focuses on the positives.

Yeah this is why I got no pleasure in Martin leadership bein under threat, whenever one of these guys goes theres always some worse waiting, and in this case thats extra true, I hate Martin but O'Callaghan is actually scary.

Not a hope. The haves have all the power.
What irks me so much is that homeless figures exclude everyone over 18 living with their parents.
These are people lucky enough to have another option, but they can't afford to rent or buy.
It's emergency accommodation by another name.

I know I need them gone if I can ever have a chance of having my own home or any sort of a future, to see climate crisis and any number of things addressed, for my own mental health to have a sense of hope in this country, things are bad and yet they keep driving us over the edge.

Thats very positive but I don't think its been effective as it could be because ultimately the establishment media and politicians has incorporated these views into the dominant narrative for their own interests rather then reflecting the electorates repeated rejection in the ballot box.

Do we even really have civil war politics anymore? Feels like just different flavours of neoliberalism. FF have no identity beyond brown paper envelopes and are increasingly aligning or being subsumed by FG's extremist ideology. I agree they fear an Irish populace that demands something better.

They are playing with fire, literally. But for ff/fg its effective in that focus the discourse on divisive issue and not focusing on things like how the recent budget will worsen poverty and homelessness , does nothing to address cost of living and cost of disability.

I can't agree, having a presidential debates including her leve ofl extremsism wouldnt be helpful in addressing any issues. A part of current normalisation of far right rhetoric was peter casey using the presidential race as a platform for bigotry against travellers and social welfare recipients.

Hes been at this some time, often carefully coded but the complete absence of social inclusion language is a giveaway. Dont think he gets its not like talking about transport when yer transport spokesman and then moving to health etc, this stuff is gonna follow him his whole career, as it should.
