TX republicans talking about a "100% tariff" on new yorkers moving here is a huge laugh because they would be taxing the snot out of their own party members.
southern republicans are literally stupid as rocks. they only cover this weakness with piles and piles of money and crime

the redistricting and elimination of many polling places in Texas is going to further delegitimize elections here to a point where all results need to be questioned.
they already make it very hard to register as a candidate for many positions. and the dems refuse to spend money in the south.

the open nazi at Tarrant GOP is leaving and we're not sure if he was pressured to go because he keeps saying extremely racist stuff every chance he gets or because he, like many other GOP officeholders, would rather get rich in a different gig because the seat doesn't pay as much as he wants

they do these voter id pushes when they're losing seats and they know a lot of older people are gonna refuse to conform to the newest ID rules, then use that excuse to DQ their votes.
they're talking about making birth certificates or naturalization certs mandatory at polling places

I find that even if a few things were hard, at the end of a mutual aid event and/or distro you all generally feel really fulfilled. You literally helped people. You may have saved lives. People go their whole lives not making a difference and you made a difference in just an afternoon.

4) if you've divided up tasks and one task is particularly difficult or someone is having a lot of trouble, you all agree to take turns doing the "hard job" so no one gets overwhelmed.
5) at the end, everyone needs to discuss how it went, how to do it better, how they feel. support each other.

if you have safety concerns, make sure everyone is on the same page about a few things.
1) you can stop whenever you want, esp if feeling uncomfortable or unsafe. no one challenges you on this.
2) buddy system!!!!!!
3) always keep an eye on where you are, ways in and out of that area. eyes on exits.

if you have friends who are nervous about talking to a lot of strangers, figure out who is best with Customer Service in your group and put them in charge of the face-to-face distribution and have other people help them. they'll set an example and know how to make that process smooth.

if you don't have time or friends to do bulk cooking, literally just get things that people can eat that you can give out. oranges. apples. protein bars. canned fucking chili can be eaten cold safely. I used to give out fruit and protein bars all the time.
