Won't suggest it'll work for everyone but giving the option to chip in just a couple bucks a month was really important to us when choosing supporter tiers. The people who value our work told us it was important to them to contribute even something small!
I simply have never believed the "micro transactions aren't possible" framework. I think they're full possible and, based on human nature, people would wind up spending more than their subscriptions would cost, $2 at a time
