I think there is a real discussion to be had about the validity of intentional sandbox!

But there is no point in leading it at this point in time because:

1. It is actively choking out the design and skill testing games
2. It's completely dominant on every level of gaming culture
I've started thinking there could be some use to distinguishing between game and digital world. Which would ultimately result in nightmare discourse from many angles, and they aren't without overlap. But it'd be useful for people to consider games as a set of rules with a victory condition again.

If difficulty is the intentional challenge of the experience, accessibility is the ramp to that experience.
Accessibility is about removing unintentional barriers, not removing barriers of the experience.
Accessibility and difficulty are two different things!

Yeah but we already have teleport mechanics like Dante's trickster teleport or Bayo's lock on teleport for that type of stuff which feel completely manual. SUCC just makes everything feel less stylish by fucking with natural animation curves and so on. Who tf thinks this is stylish?

NG4s design made me appreciate DMC a lot more as a vastly more coherent combo game. DMC being based around single moves & weapon/style switch cancels means that u wont autopilot into combos from misinputs/mashing. & the game doesnt treat air juggles as a tactical liability so they never feel scrubby

I wonder if people's hatred of timers is at least slightly due to the fact that video game genres as they are now cannot really capture the concept of a "thriller". So people default to treating action games as action-adventure, unless they're more explicitly horror.
