Well, a short bio of the good bits I'm Rob. Or Robbie. Did European Studies at university and feel like a luddite now. A big fan of more trams, and more electrified railways, good walks, hikes and bike rides, and #France. Think Belgium is criminally underrated. Take the occasional decent photo.
Another excoriating blog from Chris Grey. If, as I understand it, many #Labour MPs read the blog, one does wonder why on earth they haven't recognise the depth of the mess they have created through their inaction
Stasis, sanctimony and the liberal paradox. What Sarah said
Brexit detonated our economy and our politics. Since then, our country seems to have lost its mind, veering off to the right, reawakening the racism genie, ruining itself to try to hide the dishonesty and snowballing damage of it all.
And now Farage could be PM ffs.
Mindblowing self-inflicted idiocy

Keir Starmer has effectively started a leadership challenge against himself. To have entered into this kind of madhouse Westminster squabbling so soon after an election is simply unforgivable.

Dear #Labour MPs. There are 2 manifesto commitments to break to stand a chance of winning the next election and renewing Britain.

Put up income tax (you shouldn't have promised not to). You could have done it in Jan and blamed Trump.

Rejoin as far as we can, the Single Market and Customs Union

Tragic to see Maurice Glasman, the brownshirt cowboy, on #Newsnight this evening. The less role he plays in the Labour Party, the better

Not resiling from this one iota in spite of the feeding frenzy, the resignations, and the talk of a billion dollar law suit of the last few days. If those on the right in this country seriously think that lining up with Donald Trump against the BBC is a good call, then I say good luck with that.
The attention the Tory party in the media and in the Commons are giving to this story is a reflection of just how far off the deep-end both have gone in recent times. Sure, they have a long-term vested interest in trying to undermine faith in the Beeb. But this is such a non-issue for most voters.
The BBC is apologising for its Panorama edit. It shouldn’t. First, the narrative is true: Donald Trump *did* incite the Capitol riot. Second, the apology won’t appease those attacking it. So why not at least stand for something?

Wrote this on it earlier this week:

I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

OK. Here's the thing. You just can't put on a jacket and pretend to be a security patrol in the UK. It's actually illegal. Who the actual F are these "Essex Spartans"? Government has laws and rules and they need to enforce them.

Whole fucking thing makes me sick to my stomach. An abject fucking liar, a man who lies as easily as he fucking breathes, threatening an organisation which strives for truthfulness. And plastic patriots like the Mail and Farage urging him on. Jackels.

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it

We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.

I do not understand the Labour government's reticence over defending the BBC and social media regulation. Their long-term survival basically depends on it. Their cowardice in the face of it may be the single thing they are most remembered for.

Nigel Huddleston and the entire parliamentary Conservative Party are quislings. Remember this. They are not defending the UK. They prefer to be fluffers for the Orange Liar in Chief Donald Trump #bbc

What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.

This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.
