Ready for tomorrow
October 18, 2025 at 12:13 AM
I asked Elon Musk's Grok AI for a rewrite of the Horst Wessel song from 1930s Germany but featuring Charlie Kirk, framing his public speeches and writings (BTW, ChatGPT refused to do this).
This is what it gave me:

I prepared for tomorrow’s protest at the New Mexico Roundhouse…

From the Declaration of Independence:

“For depriving us, in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury—For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences—”

THIS will be on the placard I shall carry tomorrow, as protest.
Accompanied by the original 13 star flag.

Yesterday I got an email from Boesen the Florist in Des Moines reminding me to order flowers for my mother, as I have done every year for decades. She died April of last year.
I am going to keep that reminder alive.

We are out to the protest at New Mexico’s Round House in Santa Fe. Brenda is wearing the Star Trek dog tags I designed for her back when she was teaching at Art Center College of Design - with the nuclear release key.

She is dangerous.

Got the lens in my right eye replaced today - cataract surgery.
The color shift is dramatic.
Having teeny knives stuck into my eye was… interesting. I was very still.

Left eye in two weeks.

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.

Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

The denial of service attacks on Deepseek are annoying. I've been doing rapid prototyping using Deepseek-chat using the Cline extension in VS Code; now there's friction.
I got a couple of distilled models of Deepseek R1 running locally; one is so large and slow its not usable. The other is "dumb".

@brendalaurel.bsky.social and I went with friends to see the La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs. We had a bit of a rough time on scree, and will need to return to better sample the site...
...this anatomically correct fellow greeted us:

Do NOT hot-plug the Raspberry Pi AI camera with its ribbon cable.
It will make a small “pop!” noise, and the smoke will be let out.
And the camera will no longer work.

Re: AI and coding - I am now exploring using DeepSeekV3 with Cline in VS, along with Cline Memory Bank. Github CoPilot is still along for the ride as a sidekick... kinda like Gabby Hayes.
The results are rather amazing. This is a screenshot of a difficulty that Cline/DeepSeek3 resolved immediately:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Gamers on fire off the shoulder of Microsoft. I watched the browser wars kill the bbs's. All those moments are memories, frozen like words in wikis. Time to reflect.

Github Copilot has been quite helpful in my current OpenCV project (bird tracking for an ag drone stealth start-up). Starting yesterday, I'm exploring adding Cline / Claude 3.5 Sonnet as an AI agent in Visual Studio Code.

How I program is changing *again*. It's been a long trip from punched cards.

I'm reading a new addition to my nuke library - "Hitler’s Uranium Club: The Secret Recordings at Farm Hall" 2nd ed. 2001.

Boy, did Heisenberg get a bunch of physics wrong, after a promising beginning!

I'm exploring bird detection/tracking using OpenCV.
Background subtraction, backgrounds updated, contours found, minimum contour area is imposed. Noisy contours improved by Thresholding, Erosion and Dilation, & Contour Filtration by minimum area.
No tracking of objects across frames is done.
