Men like this can't imagine a world where their wealth won't automatically buy them access, influence, and power.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

“Cities are good, people want to live in dense walkable neighborhoods, and urban governance should prioritize city residents’ quality of life over suburban drivers’ convenience” remains a genuinely radical political program in America.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

But these has been a prime Dem messaging tactic through the whole Trump era: induce some kind of brusque procedural unfairness from the GOP, and then immediately play victim for the cameras. “Look how rude and unreasonable they’re being!” Projecting weakness and victimhood to earn sympathy.
"They refuse to even meet" is so goddamn whiny & weak it makes me want to vomit.

This is the leadership that we expect! Thank you, Dr. Carvalho.

Beating a handsome 33 year old with a vision for the city is actually harder than it looks. AOC destroyed Joseph Crowley just by being decent and packaging her CV in a way that working people could easily understand.

When a wildly unrepresentative group of wealthy white homeowners comes to you & tells you that they don't want their neighborhood to change, that they want to freeze the city in amber, no matter who suffers as a result, the proper response is a simple, decisive NO.

We heard you. The answer is no.

So if a major hurricane hits Florida then the state is on its own, but if a few dozen people show up to peacefully protest against Trump's cadre of child-kidnappers then it's time to call in the marines whether the governor wants it or not. Do I have that right?

Never underestimate how much Republican messaging relies on their followers being:

A) Scared of large cities
B) Unfamiliar with large cities
C) Unable to conceive of how large a city like LA (or Seattle or Portland or Minneapolis) is
D) Too stupid and incurious to read maps

Works every time.
Los Angeles population is roughly 4M+ people.
It’s a massive city, folks.

The combined 4700 National Guard and Marines have been sent to about a 3-block area to aggressively eat lunch and watch peaceful protestors sing and dance. 👇🏽
